Best fish and chips for now

Well, stars fall as fast as they are rising. The manager changed and from that point in time the atmosphere went into a rapid downward spiral. The cosy pub feeling was replaced by something you may experience if you stumble into the wrong bar on Bui Vien. Meh, bye bye.
I leave the old review here, but you should know that it's not what it used to be.

After reading a nice amount of good reviews about Fat Shaggy's on the interwebs - and after moving our stuff to the Thao Dien area, we decided to give the place a try. Now actually it was an odyssey until we finally managed to get some of their famous fish and chips.

The first time we went there to dive head first into Fat Shaggy's small but fine menu, the whole street had a blackout. Once again. Why are there always blackouts when we try to eat something? As we went to One More Cafe in Da Lat, we had a blackout as well...

The second time I cannot remember what had happened, but we were unlucky again. The third time I was too early!

The fourth time however, yes, when it comes to food we are pretty persistent, we came at the right time for two portions of fish and chips. Amazing fish and chips! Crispy, lovely batter, soft and juicy fish. Delicuious hand-cut chips with tadar sauce and malt vinegar aside. Up to now my best fish and chips I enjoyed in Hastings. I guess now I have to revisit the UK again to give them a chance to get to my top position again.

Another day the whole family returned and the fish was lovely as ever. Myself I had one of them wossname burgers with a cheesy onion ring and pickled jalapenos and I am very pleased to see that we have a new contestant compete for the #1 rank of the best burgers in Saigon.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Fat Shaggy's is actually a sports pub. The screens above the bar are placed in a way that they don't fight for your attention if you are - like me - not too keen on visual distraction from your food. If you are searching for a spot where to watch your favourite games with your mates in a cosy environment, I guess we have found it.

The fish and chips had cost us 145.000đ, the burger was 190.000đ if I remember correctly. Lovely.
You should also check out their promotions and happy hour on their Facebook page.

Alex, the co-owner and manager , is a very friendly and cheerful host and together with a perfectly reasonable price, Fat Shaggy's is an awesome place you need to check out as soon as you can!

Despite Vietnam having excellent conditions for growing great coffee, the premium suppliers are rare and street coffee often is not even real coffee. What is wrong here and what is right? Let us take a look.
