Mui Ne Sunset Tour by Jeep

One of our most popular tours in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. You go by Jeep to the Fairy Stream, a fishing village as well as the White and Red Dunes.

Alternatively Sunrise Tour if you are more like an early bird or so

One of the most popular tours in Mui Ne is definitely the Sunrise/Sunset Tour by Jeep. You decide if you rather want to see the sunrise or the sunset on this half-day tour. We undertook this tour twice, once with my former colleagues from Citypassguide and the second time just my wife and I.
Both times the experience was more than satisfying.

On this tour you will see:

The tour actually doesn't need an English speaking tour guide, since the three main attractions you visit are natural landmarks and the fishing village itself doesn't need any explanation either. Make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen, as well as a bottle of water, especially if you visit Mui Ne during dry season when the sun doesn't know any mercy.

What to expect from our Sunset Tour

Pickup at the Resort

1.) An adventurous-looking vintage Jeep, carefully restored, picks you up at your resort if it's not too far off the main strip between Phan Thiet and Mui Ne.

Mui Ne Fairy Stream

2.) The first destination is the picturesque Fairy Stream, where you have roughly 30 minutes time to explore the amazing formations of red and white clay and sandstone. You can even ride an ostrich there if you want (not included in our tour, pay a small fee extra to the ostrich man) and if you are not too heavy. After everybody is back, the Jeep heads on.

Fishing Village

3.) The fishing village, actually Mui Ne Bay is the second stop. You have roughly 15 minutes time to take some pictures of the colorful coracles and fishing boats and have a short stroll along the beach, before the Jeep heads on.

White Dunes

4.) The White Dunes. Depending on how long you dawdled at the Fairy Stream, you have between 40 and 60 minutes to explore the White Dunes of Mui Ne. If you can stand the hot sand, you may walk barefoot, otherwise walk in your sandals. You can rent a quad bike here for 400.000đ per 20 minutes, which is quite a lot in my opinion, but it's also a rare experience for most travellers. There are also some local guys speeding around on their quads and if you are lazy to walk, you can negotiate with them and they may take you to the top of the highest dune (or back to the entrance) for a small fee.

Sunset at the Red Dunes

5.) The driver takes you back towards the city. On the way you stop at the Red Dunes of Mui Ne to watch the sunset. As soon as the Jeep pulls up, you find yourself surrounded by kids offering plastic sheets for sliding down the dunes. Please be nice to them, even if you don't want to slide. Their life is pretty hard as it is. The dunes are more touristy than the White Dunes, and therefore dirtier. I would leave my sandals on if I were you. Scale one of the dunes and experience the beautiful Mui Ne sunset. There are tons of snack vendors around on the street, selling everything from ice cream to grilled rice paper.

Back to your Resort

6.) The driver drops you off at your resort again and you may enjoy your pool, the evening breeze or a relaxing night-out at the busy resort strip of Phan Thiet or Mui Ne.
