Until a few years ago, Dai Beach was Phu Quoc's totally undeveloped paradise beach. Nothing disturbed the crystal clear waters, except a few shacks selling sea food. Until Vinpearl opened up two huge luxury resorts at either end of the beach. These resorts resemble some sort of Disneyland, but despite their presence, there are still some nice areas along Dai Beach where you can take a rest and a refreshing dip into the ocean.
Bãi Dài is about 26 kilometers away from Duong Dong town and by motorbike it will take you roughly 40 minutes to get there. Just follow the street from Duong Dong to Ganh Dau and after around 18 kilometers turn sharp to the left. You can also turn left at Le Bat fishing village before you reach Cua Can and follow the scenic road from Cua Can Beach past Vung Bau Beach with the beautiful shady jungle backdrop.
The calm water of Dai Beach is usually crystal clear during dry season and the powdery sand is yellowish-white. If you rent a kayak, it's not far to the beautiful offshore Hòn Đồi Mồi (Turtle Island) where you can go snorkeling or even scuba diving to inspect the colorful underwater fauna and flora. Leave the corals alone though and don't touch them please.
